The Rem Koolhaas/OMA Collection in the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAI)
In 1984, the Netherlands Architecture Institute acquired a number of archives from the young architectural firm OMA. The collection was expanded in 1988 and 1994 and contains materials relating to projects from the period 1978–1995. Highlights include the Nederlands Dans Theater in The Hague, the Kunsthal in Rotterdam, the ZKM Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, Germany, and the unbuilt Jussieu library in Paris. The exhibition START functioned as an open depot, where visitors could request archival material via a database. Various storylines were mapped out in the exhibition space, with selections from the archives serving as illustrative material. Different items were on display at different times during the exhibition’s run.
